Realis: Wishmaker

The Wishmaker is a piece of grit lodged between the cosmic gears of cause and effect. Through some twist of fate they are the single soul in all of the Thousand Moons borne as the fulcrum upon which the configuration of reality may be shifted into any other so long as a wish is made to them. The Wishmaker does not grant wishes through any will or act of their own, they are simply a conduit for some preternatural force which turns spoken intention into material reality and when they pass another will be born somewhere in the orbital sphere to take their place. 

Most wishmakers go most of their lives without ever realizing the great and terrible power they possess. It must be presumed many Wishmakers were born as insects or grubs hidden away in dark caves or deep forests where they would never have a single word spoken to them much less a wish. 

As such, when a Wishmaker is discovered the great powers of the Thousand Moons rush to apprehend the Wishmaker in order to lay claim to the power to remake the world. These captured Wishmakers are often locked away in impossibly secured prisons to be instrumentalized only in service of their masters’ whims.

When a Wishmaker, free in the world, realizes what they are and the consequences thereof, they are faced with a choice; a life of secrecy and vigilance, or one of captivity and servitude. Which begs the question; what does the Wishmaker wish for?
